Since i played mk x torr and Ferra have been an interesting concept of characters like a rider and his owner it's a pretty deep bond according to me.

What if they had met when ferra was a child maybe orphaned and abandoned by her parents and later she had ran away from home and met with torr at first torr expected that she'll be scared of him because of his face but instead torr is smiling with no hint of fear on her face despite her being a child and torr decided to take the child in.
